Hedme Sierra-Castro
Hedme is a human rights defender and activist at Derechos Digitales. She has a degree in Computer Science Engineering from the Catholic University of Honduras and completed National University of General San Martin’s (UNSAM) Master’s program “Human Rights and Democratization in Latin America and the Caribbean,” graduating summa cum laude in 2016. Her master’s thesis, “The Application of Human Rights to Communications Surveillance: Free Internet and Secure Communications in the Promotion and Defense of Human Rights” was published by the UNSAM in 2016. She researches issues related to privacy and the right to freedom of expression and is an advisor and digital security officer at the Association for Participatory Citizenship (ACI-Participates) in Honduras.
